Messaging and SMS World

Last December 1 Lleida.net Registered SMS service was shortlisted together with Openmind, RouteSMS Solutions Limited, Twilio, Vodafone Carrier Services and WeFarm as the “Best SMS Solution” at Messaging and SMS World Awards in London, the largest conference and networking event for the global messaging community.

The award went to WeFarm, a peer-to-peer service that enables farmers to share information via SMS, without the internet and without having to leave their farm. Congratulations to Wefarm!

The event provided MNOs, wholesale carries, aggregators and VOIP apps the chance to join, to debate and dissect  the future of A2P SMS, as well as the rise in RCS (Rich Communication Service) and the challenges faced by grey routes.

Only one week before the 23rd anniversary of the SMS, conferences were held by top speakers of the SMS messaging ecosystem under the title “The future of Mobile Messaging”. They unanimously agreed on the fact that although we all use multichannel communication depending on whom we are communicating with as well as the decline of P2P (person- to person)  SMS, the continued growth of SMS revenues over the next few years are and will be driven by A2P (application- to person) messaging.

The SMS has gained an ally in A2P enhancing security in 2FA (2-Factor Authentication), notifications and transactions.

Implementing 2 way SMS and partnership with customers requiring for authentication processes, as Lleida.net  does, are some keys richness builders of the SMS industry.

With 7 billion active mobile subscriptions there are as many mobile subscriptions as people on the planet, we may not talk about SMS vs OTT (over-the-top content, referring to delivery of media over the internet without the use of an operator), but rather about SMS and OTT.
